well pump problems

I just bought a new 1 1/2 hp jet well pump new pressure swith and all. It pumps from a holding tank of 1550 gallons. The old pump which works ok was just not big enough to do the job. O.k. my poblems is the pumb will only build to 37 psi the switch is set for 40/60. intake is 2 in opening down to 1 1/2 out of tank. outlet is 2" down to 3/4. This is my 3rd pump in the tank. no prior problems. Any Ideas?

It sounds like some rust or something has broke loose and lodged in the ejector nozzle (jet). Try cleaning it out.
I've never seen a 1.5 hp jet pump with a 2" discharge. With the discharge reduced down to 3/4", you may see the pump chattering on and off very quickly.
Is there a pressure tank in use, and if so, what size is the line between pump and tank?

I'll bet he bought a self primer and thought he bought a jet, Ron. I'm with you, I've never seen a jet pump with a 2" in and 1.5 out. And of course dropping the 1.5" down to 3/4" kind of defeats the idea of getting the job done.

Lanny, did you buy the pressure switch seperate from the pump?
