My Mom's place has a leaking, due to cracks, double cement tub. It doesn't look like this thing is repairable. I want to replace it with a double composite tub. Should I just whack the old one with a sledge hammer to break it into 3 or 4 pieces or is this thing worth anything to anyone in one piece. Either way I need it out of there. This thing is a good 40 years old. Thanks for your help and a great forum.

I have one of those old double cement laundry tubs, it's dated on the bottom as 1910.

If you have a short handle 3lb. sledge, just break it up and carry it out in a 5 gal. bucket or a good strong cardboard box.

Thanks for the info. I'll bust it up.

It may take a few buckets to get it out. It likely weighs about 250 lbs. Last time I took one to landfill they charged me $11 to dump it.
