How do I cap this cleanout--no threads

Had a plumber come and cleanout cellar drains. When he removed cleanout he found it was just stuck into pipe (metal). Why? While the cap had threads on it, there were no threads on the T into which is screwed into. When he was done he just pushed it back in as far as he could, then wrapped electricians tape all around it. I'm not crazy about that at all, as twice in the past 2 years the local storm sewers backed up and if did so again, water may push this plug out. How can I put in a watertight plug, cap since there are no threads left on the T. I found some Fernco rubber caps but they come in 1.5" , 2" and 3 ". The hole is 1.5" but with the hub/collar I need something bigger to slip over it, the 2" was a tad too small, the 3" way too big...help!!!

Put that 2" fernco in boiling water and it will slip over the hub no problem.

In new construction on outside work building schools we'd have a fire barrel with a huge pot of water on it, would take the service weight gaskets and throw them in there for a bit, flexible like silly putty and made putting sections of cast iron together a cinch.

Gonna try the boiling water

Thanks for the boiling water tip..will try, nothing to lose. Someone nicely suggested doing it right and replacing cleanout..that is more than I can handle right now. It is all 50 yr old metal pipe..would require somehow getting the old T out of there (and who knows what will break then too) and getting a new one in, and there is no play in pipes. It is my parents home, they are both 85 years old, I'm not about to take a serious undertaking of redoing a big piece of plumbing..so I'll try the Fernco...thanks.
