I'm replacing the close coupler on a Kohler toilet.
I can't remember which way the nipples go. Do they go up into the toilet tank, or down into the base of the toilet?

I'm sorry, but I don't know what a "close coupler" is ??? And what Kohler are you talking about and how old is it. I know I can still learn something new.

toilet

A "close coupler" if there were such a thing would be the bolts and washer holding the two parts of the toilet together. I don't know of anything that would consist of nipplesl, and cannot imagine how there would be any question of whether what you are using goes into the tank or onto the bowl.

Kohler has a triangular rubber gasket that goes between the tank and the bowl. That's what I'm referring to as the close coupler.
There are three 1/2 inch rubber 'nipples' that extend from the flat gasket.
These nipples can either fit up into the tank, or down into the bowl.
The bolts would then be inserted from the tank downward into the bowl.
I installed the nipples down, but there is a slow leak.
I just wanted to make sure it's correct before I tighten it some more.

Thanks for the help.
