Grohe faucet base removal?

I have a Grohe with marking A112.18.1M and 0206-03 and want to know how to remove the underside retainer. This unit is a two handle, metal flex hose to hand held dispenser. There is a push-push on-off valve at the handle. The unit is on a boat which was made in 1973 although the faucet could be a later addition. The retainer is sort of "C" shaped.

Does this clip have a threaded stud running through it with a screw slot? If so, I think you just loosen this.
