I need some advice...
My Mansfield toilet is one year old, after you take a shower, my toilet runs for a very short burst (3 seconds). Does anyone have any reasoning for this?
You can check for this type of leak by shutting off the stop valve below the toilet. Come back in a few hours and see if the water level in the tank has dropped.
another way to check is to put some food coloring into the tank.. if the bowl turnes the same color... ther's your answer.... both ways should work... but in hard water areas I've found that the stop may not give you a positive shutoff.... but the color doesn't lie....
also check the bowl refill tube... it's the one that squrts water into the tube into the tank at the point you can see if you pull the lid.... It can acturally pull water through the fill valve and out the overfloow tube into the bowl...
Mansfield? Personal opinion.... cange it to a standard flaper style... (Douglus valve) good luck
I hear mine going if we use the washing machine (the downstairs powder room does this), or when we use the shower upstairs the entire house sounds like pipes are running.
Just wanted to say thanks again! I really feel that I recieved some great advice from some talented people! This is a great resource board, people couldn't be any friendlier or more helpful!
