My daughter has rusty water coming ONLY from her tub spout. The tub is a jaccuzi type. I suspect iron piping has been used some where around the tub.

I also thought that the water heater may be on its way out; but if this were the case, rusty water would come out of all the spigots.

Am I on the right track? Dosen't seem to be any acces to the tub or its piping. Any suggestions would be great!

Like rugged sez, remove the spout and get a flashlight and see what you see. My favorite is where two tub/showers were mounted back-to-back. All copper plumbing. Rusty water from the tub spout. Pulled the spout, and there was a galvanised nipple. The plumber chimp installed a copper drop into a drop ear elbow, with a galvanised lookout. I put a wrench on the nipple and it didn't budge, I could feel the copper drop twisting. I told the customer this means a tub tearout with a tile job. They said it was more that wanted to spend, I said to call me when the floor is soaked thru.
