install above ground deep well pump

we plan on install above ground deep well pump, but we have no idea were to start. like do you have to have both pipes. we have a submerge. one but it old and worn out.what i need is step by step so we ( my husabnd and I ) can put it in this weekend. jet pump i don't know for sure how deep the well is my grandpa had it drill years ago now he is has passed on about 25 yrs ago. i don't know much about it. no baody else can remeber

If you're putting in a deep well jet pump, yes you need both pipes. If I were you, I would install another submersible pump.

Ditto on Ranchers post.

If you insist, you need to tell us more about the well, the water level, the pump you propose to use, the jet etc.
