i've just had a well drilled time to make some system decisions;
480' deep , static level 80' , 2-3 gpm,up to 6 people on the system, 50-60' elevation drop from well head to house, 400' run from well to house. i'm planning to store 1500 gal in a tank at the well head. i'm planning on using 1 1/2" pvc pipe.
1) what would the psi be at the house if i relied only on gravity feed
2)what size pump 1/2,3/4,1 hp sub pump, brand?
3)what size wire 8 or 10 i plan to bury the electric cable to the well

could you comment on my plans and suggest a system of specific components. thanks gord

1. It's .433psi per foot so about 20psi.
2. Place a 1hp - 1 1/2 hp pump at 400-450'.
3. I would use #8, you probably could get by with #10 but it is 400'

I would go with the 2" PVC from well to house, you won't be sorry.
