Hello All,

Here is a photo of a toilet flange. It sits only a big 1/16" above the tile. What wax ring method would you guys reccomend? Single, Double, Wax + Extender, etc, etc.?

Thanks,
Molo

OK,
Thanks, I'll go for it as soon as I have the grout sealed, also, have you ever heard of caulking the gap between the flange and the tile? This is really the only place that water will be able to escape if the flange starts to leak. If i can seal this gap, it will insure that any leaking water comes out around the toilet base.

Thanks,
Molo

No reason not to do it, but if this is going to be inspected, the inspector may require that the base of the toilet be sealed to the floor also so the water could not escape anyway. Do a good job and it will not leak.

Thanks for the replys HJ.

I thought its a bad idea to caulk the back of the toilet just for the reason of being able to identify leaking water. Do inspectors require this because of not wanting waste water to drain onto the floor, and down through the ceiling instead? :)
