Photo taken with a cell phone.

Removing a toilet the other day, the kind that doesn't flush, well...........
When we had to break the bowl to pull it up, we found a surprise in the trapway. Someone had flushed a small metal pot down and it stopped at the back bend.
Another good reason not to have tight bends in the trapway.

Caulk too good?

Speaking of caulk... I didn't caulk my toilets, I don't like the look... How many of you real plumbers caulk or don't caulk?

Breaking bowls is not common.
Most of the time, we can unthread the nuts,
Or saw them off with a sawzall,
It's nice to have the big tools on the truck.

This one we couldn't get th sawzall on.
I've also had some that were glued to the floor.

Most plumbers will caulk.
Some do it 360
Other leave some open at the back.
I prefer something like polyseamseal, a water based caulk.
Silicone can be almost impossible to remove.

Now that is funny!

I caulk only when asked (today) leave the back open if someone decides to plunge the toilet and blow the ring out.

I had to remove a huge pile of paper towels out of a toilet monday morning.

I got a tip though; 1 penny left in the toilet. Don't know if they did that to make a wish or be funny.

I've pulled 2 foot strand of hair out of a toilet before. That was a nightmare to get out of the closet auger; ended up cutting most of it off and burning the rest.

Hey ZP, any clogged drains (roots)???

I use Silicone ,,,,, clear or white . It is quite easy to cut silicone because it remains flexable . It is much more mildew resistent and helps to keep the toilet from rocking . Takes a while to get good at but it is WELL WORTH IT !

I have run into a chaulk for years now that I still have NO idea what brand it must have been ,,,,, HARDENS LIKE CONCRETE !!!

Can't get a razor knife to touch it , have to use a sharp chisel and hammer.

Any ideas ??? Circa 1975---80's . Man I HATE that stuff !!

the landlord was so mad he took the t- brush
washed it off , and laid it back up on the vanity.....

and he never said a word to the lady about the t-brush....
