Okay...I'm going to try to best explain this one
Basically, I need to know if I am supposed to put a brass insert between the plastic tube and the adapter

I have a 3/8" angle stop with a 3/8 to 1/4 tube adapter on it.

My fridge came with a long plastic hose and nut already on it.
The plastic is actually flared out underneath the nut
Looks kinda like this

{ nut }

XXXXXXX (1/4 male threads)

I have this hooked up directely to the adaper, no brass insert or ferrule. Just a lil pipe dope on the threads. It has been hooked up for 2 weeks now and no leaks. Is this correct or should a brass insert be put in as well ????

That hose is designed to hook up just the way you did it. No additional ferrules or inserts needed.

I actually like those hoses a lot. You can buy 5' made us hoses. A little pricey compared to 10cents per foot for poly tubing, but the time they save and the reliability is worth it. Never had one of those leak.

Thanks. I actually have a SS 1/4" line cause I thought it would just have a water hookup.

I was planning to swap out the plastic tube with the SS braided one.....until I opened up the cover and looked at the routing....and I said fuggaidaboutit.

I have the extended warranty so if that thing blows....I'll let the repair techs deal with it. Hopefully if it does....I'll be home to turn off the stop valve.

Did I just jinx it ;)
