Shower Drain Question

I am remodeling a shower stall, and I very much hope to change the shower drain so it has a straining sytem for catching small objects and hair.

With the current drain, we unscrew the strainer and put in one of those rubber strainers with a fine mesh that catches almost all objects including hairs. But this has to be replaced fairly often. Worse yet, if we dump a bunch water at once, such as emptying the baby's minitub when we wash him there, the rush of water can lift up the rubber strainer and then objects/small toys within the water deluge can go into the drain. We had a small tyranosaurus rex get down the pipes that way and it took me an hour to fish it out.

Is there a drain piece that has a recessed strainer below the shower floor so we can put a fine mesh strainer above it to catch small objects??

Are there any other drain choices that allow for catching hairs and other small objects??

Thanks for any advice.

Hair catchers are the perennial Hobson's Choice. If you use a mesh fine enough to catch hairs, it CLOGS WITH HAIR fairly quickly an drains slow.

There are aftermarket plastic hair catchers that just sit on top of the drain. Clean up after every shower.
