I have a single faucet shower by moen with the delector valve directly below the faucet handle. Recently went to shower and when I pushed the deflector rod in no water out the shower head...tried shooting some liquid wrench into where the rod went into the sleeve...no luck...what's up? Tried to see I could replace the deflector valve, but must need a "special" tool...is there some advice out there? Thanks KJ

It's a divertor valve...I'm not familiar with that type. Have you checked the manufacturer's website for troubleshooting tips?

Moen divertor valve

I wanted to clarify that the divertor valve positioned directly below my single knob moen fixture will not allow water to be diverted to the shower head. How can I repair/replace? Thanks KJ

Did you call Moen? Did you check their website? Do you know the model? Can you post a picture?

valve

Obtain the new diverter valve, then remove the handle and round trim plate. The diverter screws into the valve body. I believe it is a 3/4" socket that removes it.

divertor valve

thanks hj, problem with trying to remove the old valve is it is recessed in the wall and the push/pull stem will not allow a socket to fit over it...is there a special socket that will unscrew what looks like a brass fitting (nut) from the water pipe?

A plumber's socket is quite deep and a set doesn't cost much. You might be able to buy a single size. It doesn't fit onto a ratchet, the one's I've seen you stick a rod or screwdriver into the hole at the top for the leverage to turn the thing.
