I need help with my vessel sink drain. It does not have an overflow in the sink but the drain is for an over flow. Can I still use it or do I need to get a drain piece that is solid.
Thanks

You cannot use that piece in your picture. It requires a sink with a deep throat ..with overflow. You need what is known in the trade as a P/O plug, or simply a grid strainer w/o overflow. Any good plumbing supply will have one.

Lots of duct tape and zip ties oughta do it :)

I installed some high end Moen faucets that had sleeves come with them for that purpose. You put the sleeve under the drain, and the mack washer and locknut snugged it tight to the bottom of the bowl.
