Hello,

I am looking to install some body sprays in a shower and was told by the plumber that I would be happier with the end result if he changed the 1/2in cpvc pipe supplying the shower with a 3/4 inch pipe. His concern was not with the water pressure as much as with the volume of water. I guess my question is what is the volume output under standard household pressure of a 1/2in pipe? Would I only be able to feel a difference as the supply volume of that 1/2in pipe is reached or exceeded?

Thanks
Gavin

1/2"l CPVC is not much larger than 3/8" copper tubing, so the available volume is relatively small. But, the real restriction may be in the shower valve if it is restricted to the maximum allowable flow. But, if the valve ports are adequate, then 3/4" CPVC would be the minimum I would use.
