Basically this is pretty good advice. I disagree about the duct tape, WD40, and propping thing up even if it was stated tongue in cheek, there's too much of that kind of DIY repairs being done. I'd summerize this 3 pages to this.
Know what you can do and what you can't do, and if you've never done it, you'd better get a pro or at least get professional advice before tearing into it. Know that not all advice from the Box Stores is bad or wrong, but it's not always right either. Know that most "repairs in a tube, can, box, roll, or botttle" aren't worth the effort. Have the list of pros that can be called when needed. Do periodic checking to catch problems while they're still small. When something needs repairing/replacing, do it right the first time.
