I need seats for a Crane tub/shower brass 2 handle valve. Valve is old; house built in 1939.

Valve is one-piece cast brass. It includes a separate cast brass elbow with 2 threaded holes on "top", one for the galvanized pipe down from the valve center and the other for the shower above. All threads for pipes are 1/2"NPT. Valve water inlets and diverter outlet are on valve bottom.

Seats are brass, OA height 13/32", thread 9/16"x24. I think NPT, but there are only 4 threads so hard to tell. Max dia. at the shoulder that sits on the valve is 21/32". The OD of the face for on-off seal is 11/16" and wall thickness at the face is 1/8".

Thanks,
Herb

You are fortunate. Later Crane/Repcal bodies during the war did not have removable seats. Take it to any good parts store. They should be able to retrofit a seat for you. It may not have to be the exact seat as long as the thread is the same.

Thanks for fast response, hj.

"Good parts store" here may not be, as the 9/16x24 has so far been "not stocked, sorry we can't get". I might be able to reface one seat, but the other has an erosion groove that puts a slot-head screw to shame.

Perhaps I could make a face on a 9/16" reducer....hmmm. Gotta see if there is such a thingie.

I'd like to bump this thread in case anyone has seats that might fit.

Herb
