Thank you for this great site, I learned a bit before registering
I am pretty reasonable when it comes to plumbing, except.....except with flared fittings.
Never gotten close to them, but I think I will be this weekend.
My mom's house has galv piping thruout, and when the feeders branch off to faucets, they are 1/2" flared fittings with 1/4" copper tubing.
I really prefer to work with fip and mip, just a lot easier.
I am anticipating taking this one krappy flared fitting/tubing assembly off and want to change it out to 1/2" iron or brass. The tubing - not bent - has developed a teeny pinhole...
Is there a female flared fitting to 1/2" male iron or brass? Have scoured my rural hardware stores and the guys all look at me like I am on drugs LOL
Also: will I teflon tape the threads (assumably if there is a female flare to iron). I do for all other metal thread-to-metal thread connections.
Much thanks again and am holding breath til your answer arrives
