New construction plumbing

I have a couple questions!

We are building a new home and the plumbers will be installing Moen faucets - I don't like the faucets they are putting in so I am looking for some alternatives.
I had found a Price Pfister model but it looks like it requires a different kind of rough-in valve and I am being told by our salesman that the plumber may not install something different because of warranty issues.

So that being said- I need to talk to the plumber to see if they would be willing to install different types of rough in valves if need be - So I guess if they are not willing then what are other faucet options do I have that are compatible with the Moen valves for shower and tub that I could look around for? Or am I stuck with Moen only?

Also we have a separate tub & shower - I find shower only fixtures but what about tub only? Do you have to order the shower/tub combo for the tub and just disregard the shower portion?

hot and cold faucets will work for a tub. The water gets combined (in a "T") before it comes out of the spout. Hot and Cold. Or, you could get any other device that has a Single Lever too. Not required. :)

just for interest, i will add that i often considered installing $10 ballcock valves on my copper plumbing and putting them in a slightly concealed location like inside a niche. Then I would have spent almost NO money on tub filler handles, and that would have suited me fine. My wife disagreed with my experimental attitude, and many others did too, so I had to give up this idea.

About your Moen valve question: it is too complex for me to try to answer right now. Find out what the plumbers and builder say, please , and reprot back here for further instruction. :) :D

Only Moen trim will work with a Moen valve (and Kohler with Kohler and Delta/Delta etc/etc) and often the choice of trim is limited as to what will work with a particular valve,even assuming the same manufacturer.This is why you must spec your trims and valves at the same time.
As far as the tub with no shower,are you saying you are going to have the faucet control and the spout coming out of the wall just as if you had a shower,but with no shower head? That would be unusual.Usually tubs use a different valve,a "roman tub valve" that mounts on the deck of the tub.The same rules about the manufacturer apply.There are some special "wall mount" tub faucets but they are not often seen.Sure,I guess you could use a tub/shower valve,plug the shower outlet,and throw away the shower head that comes in the trim box.It's just not common.
