I am about to install my shower base and am using a brass no caulk drain. My pipe, 2" iron, is kind of rough, would it be acceptable to use silicone caulk on the inside of the rubber hub of the no caulk drain to make sure it doesn't leak? I know that the rubber compresses to form a seal when the brass nut is tightened, I just want to make sure I don't have any problems down the line. Thanks!

I would file/grind down the inside of the pipe before installation. I use a Dremel with a little grinding wheel...you can buy a cylinder-shaped grinding wheel for your drill and use that...makes quick work of it.
