I have a craftsman shallow well pump model no. 390.2508. The pump locked up and needs some parts replaced inside the pump. The problem is I can't figure out how to get the pump apart. I have it pulled from the motor but can't figure out how to get the rest of it apart. I know it comes apart because sears sells all the parts for it. I have the exploded view of the parts but no manual. Can someone help with this problem?
Thanks

I can't find the diagrams for it, but if it is like item number 6066976269 on e b a y then it looks like you need to remove those nuts that show up in the picture and the whole thing will pull apart. It may take some force and mallet action.
If it is siezed up, then the impeller is probably failed and the housing may also be shot. That often happens if you lose prime and it runs until the water boils.

Thanks for the reply. That is the same as the model that I have. I have taken the nuts off and seperated the pump from the motor. But I can't seem to get inside the housing. There is a picture of the pump in the parts section on the Sears web. Go to Sears.com, then click on customer service (at top), then click on parts, then enter 390.2508 in the box that asks for model number, then continue, then go to bottom of page and check view diagram. May be you can see something more than I do to tell how to get the housing apart.
Thanks again,
Mike

I got it apart. Just took a little prying, sweating, and cussing. It was the impeller that was bad. It chewed the threads off the part that screws to the motor and was a little warped. It rubbed a little bit off of the nylon housing but all that looks to be bad it the impeller. I think that is the only part that I"m going to order unless someone has something to say that would sway me otherwise. Thanks for your help again.
