Terry,

When I hover my mouse pointer over the little green square under anybody's number of posts on the top right hand corner of their post. A balloon comes up saying "X is on a distinguished road".

Now I have to ask; what in the world does that mean???

bob...

Yes,

What does that mean?

I looked at the list of ratings, and they are pretty funny.

User is infamous around these parts
User can only hope to improve

User has a little shameless behaviour in the past

User is an unknown quantity at this point

User is on a distinguished road

User will become famous soon enough

User has a spectacular aura about

User is a jewel in the rough

User is just really nice

User is a glorious beacon of light

User is a name known to all

User is a splendid one to behold

User has much to be proud of

User has a brilliant future

User has a reputation beyond repute

Maybe we should come up with our own list of ratings for reputation.

Please send any ideas you have for that.

how about:

"Has too much dope in his joint"
"Sweats like Elvis"
"Lays pipe for dough"
"Will flux you like an animal"
"Likes sanitary tees on their backs"

Dude, those are great. I like 'em!

Isn't there supposed to be a link of some sort where you can vote for a person? And this is what determines which of the sayings come up on the little green button for that person?

I know some forums have this feature. I don't know if it's a good feature or not for sure. It could give some a complex and others a false sense of self worth.

I see your still on the Distinguished road too Terry. I have 20 reputation points. How many do you have, and how many do you need before you become "A jewel in the Rough"?

bob...

One of my favorites is sometimes attributed to Winston Churchill, who once remarked that a colleague was "a modest man, with much to be modest about."

When your reading through the posts made by yourself and others, you will see a set of scales in the upper right hand corner. If you click on the scales on someones post you can vote. If your looking at one of your own posts you can click the scales and you will be told how many reputation points you have.

You now have at least one, because I voted for you.

bob...

There should be a dot on the other side under the scales Mikey. It's gone too.

What should we do??? How can we survive without reputation points.

bob...

Oh, there was a dot there? I thought you meant the "is on-line now" dot.

I had a lot of problems with the reputation points feature. I tried to use it as a "rate this post" facility, and kept getting gigged for not spreading enough reputation points around. There also didn't seem to be a way to sully a reputation, which I felt was badly needed now and then. Anyway, when I offered my complaints to Terry a while back, he said he was considering dropping the whole RP thing, which I guess has happened.

I don't remember what the other green dot was.

I think the other dot told what the persons reputation was. Or if it was yours it would tell you how many points you had.

So if Terry turned it off, I will have to get all my points back. I was all the way to the top of the scale you know!

I think I had a total of 30 points, whatever that means. I think Terry gives you that many to get you started on the Distinguished road! I didn't know where it was going to lead me, so maybe it's better that way.
