kohler rochelle ball leaks

I have a persistent problem with getting a good ball seal... :eek: it looks to me like the wire guide is worn to the point that the wire wobbles as the ball comes down and it doesn't land true to the seat. Has anyone seen other root causes for poor sealing? :confused: Are there any tricks to get the thing to seal better? I've tried a solder-seal ball that my local plumber recommended already... Is there any way to replace/repair the guide? What's a reasonable price to pay if I have to replace the entire assembly? :o
