Hi,

My Crown boiler wasn't firing up, so I reset the BVS (blocked vent switch) and it resumed normal operation.

The documentation claims that if the BVS is tripped, I need to get a professional to check why. Is this really a concern? Can I just wait and see if it happens again?

Do these things ever trip liberally?

Thanks,
John

was it very windy or cold thatcould have made the vent not open or the air pressure change radically? The safetys are there for a reason, but can be fooled by outside sources sometimes. One of the pros may have some thoughts. It is always good to understand why a safety tripped - sometimes you can then ignore it, other times, it is a major red flag.

It was probably the coldest day of the season so far (NY). But I did see the damper right on top of the boiler did open.

Before bringing down a plumber, should I get a chimney sweeper? (Probably should do it this week for santa's sake anyway).
