I am relocating the bath and kitchen in my summer home and want to know the proper venting scheme. The bathroom sink, toilet, and shower will be 25 feet from the septic tank and the kitchen sink will be 15 feet from the bathroom and 40 feet from the septic. I was planning on a 6 inch line from the toilet to the septic with a 2 inch vent at the toilet. The bathroom sink, tub and kitchen sink lines (11/2 inch) would tee into the 6 inch sewer line near the toilet.

6" would be overkill but most toilets are 3", venting can be 1.5" for all three fixtures you stated. Go to 4" before passing through the building wall and you'll be fine as far as code goes.

If it was the only bathroom in the building, the vent coming off of the toilet would have to be 3" Vent Through Roof.

I'm no plumber, but I'd say most toilets are 4" ... Then again building material prices are up. ;)

You would be wrong. A toilet can attach to either a 3" or 4" pipe, since the flange's final diameter is the same. Most plumbing systems are 3" for up to 3 toilets. 6" is oversized for a house main sewer, and 1 1/2" is legal for drains in many places but is really undersized as a practical matter, especially for a shower.
