My tile guy did me no favors. My sink deck and my roman tub deck are all too thick to accept the regular valves on most faucets. (my decks are over 2 1/8" thick) I need to know what companies make valve extensions for their faucets (for sink faucets and roman tub fillers) Now that I need to change leaky valves, this is a major problem! If I can't find a solution, I will have to completely take out all the tile and deck and start over. I want to avoid this. My tile has been down for 15 years, but is still in good shape.
Please help!

Your question is somewhat ambiguous. Do you need extensions to make the handles fit? If so that is the normal reason for an extension. Or, is the valve installed properly, but just too deep in the deck? If that is the case, then there are no extensions that will raise the operating mechanism. But in most cases the valve can still be serviced without tearing anything out, given the right equipment and technique.

*Valve was installed properly, the deck is just too deep.My plumber tried to drill out more space underneath the deck, in order to accept the valve, but was unsuccessful. The deck is ply with grouted base. Most of the replacement faucets I have looked at have a max allowance of 2 1/8" or less.

So this is a new valve in an old deck. Many manufacturers make extensions, or in this case a thick deck adapter. What brand is your valve.

*I purchased a kohler 394-4-CP without knowing about the problem I had with the deck thickness. I spoke with the (kohler) manufacturer and found out they do not make a valve extension for this faucet. I have done some checking and Moen does makes a 3" valve extension for some of their widespread faucets, but they do not for their roman tub spouts, so basically I guess I am back to where I started since I have to replace both the lav faucets as well as the roman tub spout and I need both to match.

Ask them about the deep rough kit #1032706 for the Devonshire faucet. Provides for 2" deck and 1" tile, unless it has to be mounted prior to tiling.

I'll see if that would work...thank you so much for your help!

Would that deep rough kit fit both the widespread lav faucts and the roman tub faucets? Thank you!

I will have to check, because it was in a deck mount tub faucet area, so I will have to see if the widespread is the same. I would assume it is.

The do not show deep rough in kits for widespread faucets, only wall mounts, so I would assume the roman tub kit would also fit the lavatory faucets.

Does it absolutley HAVE to be Kokler??

Have you thought about Delta?

I am pretty certain that DELTA will just about work anywhere...

He is trying to use a matched set, and Delta also makes a deep deck kit for use when necessary.
