I have never seen a PVC drum trap before
In theory it will work forever, so I would not worry about it
you can cut it out if you want to and just installa 2 inch pvc trap
but I would let it slide...

Thanks Mark. I never would have even looked at it if my washing machine wasn't suddenly leaving the clothes sopping wet. It spins well and there is no evidence of water left in the tub, so I thought maybe I had some problem with the drain....the washer itself has a self-cleaning lint trap, according to the manual.
Is it upside down? I'm wondering if I need to clean it out....
