The toto drake I bought last week has two things in its installation instructions that surprised me. I've only done a replacement once before, so I'm a little nervous.

Toto recommends putting the wax ring on the toilet, rather than on the floor, which I've never heard of. Does this work?

It also has you install the bowl on the floor, and then put the tank on; this makes sense, but somewhere I got the idea that the tank should go on first, although I have no idea why. Is there a difference?

Other than that, I've read about the need to sand down the internal openings for the tank bolts. Are there any other tips?

Thanks.

All wax ring instructions say to put the ring on the toilet. Most people I know, but not all, put it on the flange.

I find it easier to mount the tank on the bowl before setting it but it can be done either way.
