Hi,

I am trying to remove the valve in the hot water pipe of my shower because the valve just spins and spins now and won't completely turn off. Do I need a deep socket to loosen it or what do you use because it is set inside the tile.

If I need a deep socket what size is standard? It's a house built in the 40's.

thanks for any help offered!

Make sure that the handle isn't just spinning in the end of the stem.

Get a set of plumbers sockets. They aren't expensive. Remove enough tile and grout to get the socket on.

You may need a new stem assembly too.
