I rent an apartment in a very very old building, and the bathroom still has 2 faucets that are separate...one for cold and one for hot. Everyday, I have to freeze my hand on one and then scorch my hand on the other, and somehow move my hands quickly back and forth between the two to get a handful of more tolerable temperature water. Because my landlord thinks it's "quaint" to have original fixtures, he will not replace them. However, I am wondering if there is an adapter or some add-on solution that will allow the 2 channels of water to converge so that I can finally have one faucet/spigot without completely replacing everything. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

They used to make GADGETS that would do just as you asked about, but haven't seen one in a long time.

Other solution would be to put a rubber stopper in the drain and add water to the desired temperature.

I appreciate you replying. For most things, stopping the drain will work.

Thanks again!

Get two elbows and a tee in 1/2" PVC or CPVC or copper and put them together with the elbows up at the ends and the tee outlet down in the middle. Assemble so the elbow spacing is equal to the faucet spacing. Hold the assembly on with duct tape or a couple of rubber bands. If the faucet outlets are too large, you may have to use 3/4". You probably don't even have to glue it if you use plastic.

Make sure it is in place if you ever get ready to move out and the landlord is showing the place to a prospective tenant.

License is hereby granted to all for general use and to make improvements to the concept.

"Quaint" as in too cheap to replace it? But then not all of those sinks have a large center hole for a conventional wide faucet, although there are single hole mixing faucets. Check in your local ACE hardware store, or do an Internet search. There used to be a device that snapped over the two faucet outlets, and should work as long as the outlets are not oval shaped.
