Saddle Tee

Hello,

I'd like to use a solvent weld saddle tee to cut into a 4" PVC drain under my basement slab for a bar sink. My only other option is a 4x2x4 tee, but space is limited, and that would also be a lot messier.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks,

I have seen saddle tees in sprinkler systems and landscape drains. I doubt if they are approved for DWV within a dwelling. In the first place, it is a straight tee, not any kind of approved DWV figure.

tee

In the first place you should not use any kind of "tee' at that point, and have you considered how you are going to vent that sink, or were you just going to install the tee and run the line to the sink?

I have seen those dwv saddle tees, but I have never used them and I too doubt they are code approved anywhere. If you have the work space, it is not too difficult to cut in a proper tee using rubber fernco style couplers.

Drain passes under where sink will be, but is pretty close to the exterior wall.

Venting was simpler. I'm 2' from the back wall, and about 6' from the stack for the unfinished bathroom.

Thank you for the sound advice.

I looked at the "Plastic Oddities" catalog, and , again, these are not DWV figures. They are just plain tees, which cannot be placed anywhere in a DWV system.
