I'm relocating the laundry room machinery and have a vent question. I have a new 2" pvc drain coming out of the floor next to the wall. I want to tie the washer and a laundry sink into this line. The 2" line will extend beyond as the vent.

In the attached picture I just stacked some fittings to simulate where I want to tie into the line with my drains. The bottom tee would extend to the right about 4 feet to the laundry sink and the top tee would be fitted with a trap and standpipe for the washer which will be located in front of the outlet box. I know I'm creating a wet vent situation with one above the other. I also know I could add a vent to the laundry sink line and then tie it back into the 2" vent line above the overflow line of the sink, but I'm trying to keep the laundry room from looking like a still since all the pipes will be exposed.

why not frame a 2 x 4 wall to hide your pipes. this way you could install a laundry supply and drain "box" plus run a vent for the sink. you would loose a little space but have a clean set-up. plus i think your drain fitting need to be lower to get the height for the standpipe. guru's will let you know.

Drain pipe does need to be lower to get the angle correct. Also, as sulconst2 stated, maybe box around it. If you set it in the right spot for the machine, you could end up with a cabinet next to the machine so that you would have a place to store detergents and other stuff out of the way instead of on top of the dryer.

UPC says the trap for any clotheswasher standpipe receptor shall be roughed in not less than 6 inches above the floor and not more than 18 inches above the floor. Since the trap arm would connect to the tee, it looks like you may be a bit high for code. Also, I would personally vent the laundry sink separately and revent it to the 2" vent of the washing machine standpipe, regardless of whether I hid it in a 2x4 wall or not.

Thanks for the comments guys. The current setup is just dry fit for the picture and will be cut off at the proper height during final assembly. Reventing the sink drain back to the 2" is probably the best approach and most of the pipes will be hidden behind the washer.

The idea of a cabinet to cover the pipes is good too.

Thanks

As HJ says and the code dictates for a reason, place the 2" tee (for the washing machine standpipe) below the 2 x 1 1/2" tee. and do add a cleanout (test tee or wye) above the whole stack for a cleanout and you will be fine. The vent on the final tee only needs to be 1 1/2" no matter what.

Also, maximum 5' arm on the 2" standpipe and max. 3'6" on the 1 1/2" arm for a sink. IF you need to go longer on the 1 1/2" arm then make it 2" and use a 2" p-trap at the sink as well.
