yesterday morn. my peir hole drilling contr. busted a 2" water line on an apt. house, 10 familys no morn shower. this was not my project, but close by.
supply house ,no slip couplings, filed ridge off reg. coupling. purple primer and red hot glue. tough access, and couldn't get coupling on as far as i would have liked. waited 2 hrs. small leak!. found clip coupling and replaced, no primer this time no leak. I was told you don't need primer with red hot. what would you pros have done on this one! I didn't wan't this job, but he's a great guy! thank's in advance Tool

I would make him dig a bigger access hole, and also wait until you drove wherever it took to find a slip coupling.

thank's Jim

and thank's for your service, USMC here

was a tough one all around. they still had to drill the hole 2 ft away, and pump the concrete. this was all happening at once. the pipe is only 6" deep on an up slope. this morn checked for leaks, dry, photoed and dated pipe and time, with witnesses. i saw the crew that will be back to installing lagging next week. i know they will be careless and bust the pipe . I'm covered on that one! there on there own! you're right Jim, slip coupling 1st next time. Tool

hj: by slip coupling I am referring to the extension couplings that contain a double O-ring on the slider. I have found them to be very reliable on larger pipes ( 1½"..2") operating at 100PSI +.

Dresser Versus Slip Coupling

can you bury both? they both depend on either rubber o rings or rubber

ferruls. Is one a better choice? in an emergency you wouldn't have set up time, or dripping water to run through solvent, problems ! :)
