I called a local bathtub re-fitter franchise and the wanted at least $1000 to install an acrylic bathtub liner. Does anyone know if I can purchase an overlay directly from a company and install it myself?

Any other solutions to make a pink tub attractive. Repaint or resurface?

Also, are there a step by step instructions for remodeling a bath, shower, and toilet?

Thanks,
Jon

REsurfacing can be expected to have a 2 to 3 year life expectancy.....just about as long as the warranty.

There seem to be "issues" with liners, but I don't have direct experience so I will await replies from others.

My God! For $1000 you have a very nice new tub installed that would last.

Their claim is that each liner is custom fit to your make of tub. For that reason they will not sell it to you, and no commercial site could afford to stock, or make, all the possible variations. Unless it cost $400.00 or so, it would not be the smartest way to remodel the bathroom.

I have a bath liner business. I would not recommend installing a liner unless you also did the acrylic walls too. If you only do the tub there will be too many ways for water to get in-between the new liner and the old tub. It will cost a bit more, but the new tub liner and walls can be installed in one day without any tear-out of the old tub and walls. Make sure you get a lifetime warranty. That will force the installer to do a proper job.

As mentioned, the liner will be custom vacuum-formed (off-site) to fit your specific tub.

Acrylic bath liners are a great way to go. $1000.00 is a bargain comparing to installing a new tub. Installing a new tub requires removable of at least 2 to 3 rows of 4" x4" tile. If your tile is in good shape a Bath Liner company can install a tub liner only and give you a lifetime warranty.

This is not a DIY project. There are many variations and speciality tools and materials required for the installation.

I've had one in my home for 4 months now and it is great and super easy to clean.
