I am getting ready for the inspection of the DWV system I installed for a new bathroom. Our city (North Olmsted, Ohio) requires that the system hold 5 psi for 10 minutes. The system is PVC, with one rubber connection to the existing cast iron soil pipe. I will be using 1 1/2" and 3" Cherne expanding test plugs where I can, but I have to use an inflatable in the line to the toilet as the closet flange I installed did not come with a test cap.

Are there any tips for getting any of the test plugs to seal? Do I lubricate them in any way or just use them dry?

Thanks, Dennis

Dont lube them with anything. Doing so can cause them to dislodge when you put air on the system. If you are using the inflatable test balloons be sure to follow the recommened air pressure for the balloons. Too much psi can cause a kickin kaboom. lol

Good luck
