Call me crazy, I have changed my mind. I am keeping my cast iron tub, even though I hate caulking. Its only about 12 years old, in great condition, Kohler Villager. I don't think I would like the feel of fiberglass or acrylic tub. Are some brands of tub surrounds better than others. I don't want a really cheap one, but don't want to spend $400 on one. The one I was looking at was a Crane tile look. They are about $200. Has anyone installed these. They have overlapping corners.
Can this be a problem if walls aren't perfectly square? Also, is there any kind of strip for where tub meets wall surround that can be glued on? Tried the self stick cheap ones, they don't work. Is there anything else that can be used to give a more finished look over caulk in this area?

I put up a crane tub surround kit in my bathroom
3 years ago....

I never tore down the old tile, ...too much work...
I just used ALEX dap
and gled the walls right up on the tile....

It looks pretty good and

it has worked great for a kids bathroom ,
but the seam at the bottom is starting show wear and tear...

I used poly seam seal and it has lasted 3 years....

I dont plan on doing anything to it yet...

perhaps white silicone might have done better,,,,

I dont think that their is anything that will solve thsi problem
but jsut peridiocal maintiance.
