Shower drain?

I have a question about a shower drain maybe someone here would be able to help me with.

I noticed that the shower drain in the basment shower is breaking apar

Well, your description is vague and we don't have a picture, but you imply that the pipe is sliding out of the drain fitting. If so, then it may be held in place with a rubber gasket and is coming loose. In any case, the pipe should have been supported so it could not drop out, or put pressure on the drain fitting if that is what is cracking. Because we do not know what is loose/broken we can't tell you how to fix it, or how serious it is.
