I replaced my well pump control and I start having problems

When the pressure drops down to around 40 psi the control kicks in to start the pump but for some reason I loose the prime and the pressure drops down to almost 0 and the I hear some noise like air rushing and the pressure jumps back to 40 psi and continues to build pressure up to the hi limit I am loosing pressure for about 20 second. You think may be the check valve?

Does the pressure drop almost instantly to zero when you open a faucet? Does it drop on its own if nothing is turned on? If the pressure holds when nothing is open, then the check valve is fine. Do you know how to check your storage tank? If you wrap on it, is it full of water all the way to the top? If so, then it doesn't have any air in it. Check those things and get back.

What kind of pump do you have? Submersible or jet? What kind of tank do you have? Bladder or galvanized?

Do you know anything about the well?

The house is 17 year old I am not sure about the pump but the tank is 82 galon expension tank. I changed the tank 2 year ago The well they told me is about 500 hundred feet deep

That is not much help when trying to troubleshoot a pump. Knowing what kind of pump is necessary to help diagnose the problem.
