Galvanized pipe in newer home?

Found a few short pieces of pipe on a water heater that the homeowner added on a six year old house. I know galvanized can't be used for drinking water anymore and I'm thinking it should not be not be on the hot side either. Someone could use hot water for coffee or cooking. This should be removed, right?

One can still buy all the galvanized pipe and fittings they want a plumb houses with it. No one does it anymore as we have materials that are easier to install and will never rust like galvanized pipe eventually does.

Most people are replacing galvanized pipe because of the rust issue. If you are worried about it, replace it.

The only problem with galvanized water piping, hot or cold, is that is expensive to buy, REALLY expensive to instal, and eventually gets rust holes in itl. Connecting galvanized and copper directly together, however, is not a good idea.
