Hello,
I just found my carpet wet about 4' x 5 right up to the wall and on the other side of the wall is my washer and dryer. I have felt the box that is in the wall for the hot and cold faucets and the drain, it was dry. I got everything dry and filled up the washing machine with water and let it drain out and went into the room on the other side of the wall and the floor was wet again, from the looks of the carpet and the padding, and the smell, it has been wet for a while. I can't see any water running out in the bedroom but it gets wet. can someone tell me what to do?
Thanks

It sounds like your drain is leaking. You can cut a hole in your wall and check it out or call someone else to cut a hole in your wall.

It's impossible to tell from what you've described. If there is any place in you home where you can see some of the drain pipes, you can tell, PVC is white, ABS (another form of plastic) is black. Cast iron is black, but is obviously metal. It could also be copper. It really doesn't matter, if the drain is leaking it must be repaired. If you cut the dry wall (which is probably wet wall now) you may find the problem, but your question indicates that you likely don't have enough handyman experiance to fix this yourself. I would advise you to contact a plumber and let him determine what the extent of the problem is and what has to be done to fix it.

Do you have a basement, crawl space or slab?

How old is the home?

The home was built in 1979. Today the place where the water was coming into the bedroom is dry. could it be the trap leaking. It's the trap gets water in it and then leaks out. No sign of water in the wash room.
