I will often smell a sewer odor in the basement and it seems to be after using the kitchen sink to do dinner dishes. House is 80 years old. Any ideas?

Look around on the basement floor and find all floor drains and add water to them. Could be!!!

If your washer is in the basement look and see if there is a Trap on the drain.

The odors are coming from your roof top plumbing vent pipes...because that's the way they were designed....charcoal filters can solve the problem
