Basement Lavatory question

I am completing a basement bathroom that was started by previous owners. There's already a shower and toilet. When adding the lavatory can I run drain the to the drain pipe used by the washer machine? It's just a PVC pipe rising about 4 ft from the floor with the washer drain hose stuck in the open top.

I would splice in a tee for the new sink if that will work.

You could and it would work but it wouldn't be to code and if the washer ever backs up you will have a flooded bathroom and what ever is off the bathroom would flood also because the water would back up and over the sink because the sink would be the lowest point.
