Tightening loose handle on Moen 6610 bath faucet

I have the directions that came with the faucet. It says to remove the caps on top of the handle.. problem is, these do not look like caps, and i have already tried prying at one and scratched it. I even went on Moen's site and looked at the tech specs/pdf's, etc and they made two different ones it appears, one with caps, and the other just shows a pictorial of a handle kit you can order, with no mention of the caps or how to remove them.. any ideas, before I go scratching up these supposed caps again?

If the faucet was made AFTER September 2009, there is NO cap, the entire handle AND bell unscrews from the faucet body.

it was made after 2009, I bought it last year, just installed it yesterday. how do they come apart then? screws? where?

Grab the chrome "dome" below the handle and rotate it. CCW to remove, CW to tighten.

The hot side came off fairly easy, had to use a strap wrench on the cold side. Got it tightened up now. Thanks HJ

BOTH handles should screw on by hand. If it was that tight there is something wrong. Remove both handles and install the hot one on the cold side. If it is still tight, there is a bad thread on the faucet body and it should be exchanged for a new faucet. If the cold handle is tight on the hot side, then the problem is the handle itself and you can call 1-800-BUYMOEN and have them send you a replacement. It should NOT have been loose in the first place, but the bad thread probably did not let the assembler finish tightening it.

Thanks, I will try that tomorrow and call moen if it is still tight after swapping handles.
