Ok guys, what's up with this?

I have two toilets, on opposite ends of the house that on occasion won't flush properly. Water fills up the bowl, sits there for a minute and then flushes. The flush before and the flush after are normal. Both toilets do the same thing. Sometimes this will happen several times a week, other times a month will go by. Both toilets are used regularly, the plumbing is seven years old, any ideas?

Sounds like the toilets just don't flush well and since they are likly the same brand and most likely builders grade they have the same problem.

Slab, crawl space or basement? You didn't say........

Sounds like there bay be a sewer problem.

Or the septic field may not accept a lot of water.....

Sorry, crawl space and septic tank.

Funny thing is, it flushes fine most all the time.

Yes, a sewer can act the way you describe when there is water in the horozontal part of the sewer.

Yet unless you see bubbling or a water level bounce in the toilets when the washer pumps out you won't know there is a problem.

Do this test.....

Fill a bath tub up to full and then pull the plug and watch the water level in the toilet closest to the septic, then flush both toilets and see how they react.
