This was off a CI utility sink.
What are ya'll using when installing faucet deckplates.

Are they any other products out there that has the release of pputty but less hardening ?
Surely, products have evolved. Similar to how there are some great epoxy products, urethane sealants, urethanized paintable caulk, etc...

There are many materials that CAN be used, but the surface the faucet will mount on might limit your choices. THAT type of deckplate is particularly troublesome because there is no way to "hold" the ends down, other than when the center faucet is tightened. This can sometimes "flex" the deckplate and raise the two ends. In addition, since there are no bolts pulling the ends down, if the sealant is too stiff, such as plumber's putty, pulling the center down may NOT compress the ends sufficiently to compress the putty under the ends of the plate. As far as I am concerned, that type of faucet should only be installed as a single hole faucet.

Plumber's putty can also stain some materials, so that is a consideration as well. Black granites tend to be quite hard and don't absorb things, but that isn't universal or guaranteed. Some granites, other stones, and solid surfacing can be stained by plumber's putty.
