I just did something I have never done before as a moderator....deleted the thread on the washing machine drain.
You all know that I am far from "emily post" with respect to etiquette.;. I will get into a good argument just like the next guy. We often agree to disagree here, but it has always stayed at the level of "friendly disagreements". The thread was getting out of control in terms of personal attacks and inappropriate language. I think everyone had said everything there was to say about the proposed drain, so I just ended it. I could have closed the post, but because of the language and personal attacks against others I removed it( nothing was said against ME....I have thick skin and you are welcome to call me any name in the book! I won't delete that!)

If anyone thinks I am out of line on this...feedback to the boss.. Terry. He could put it back.

Just a few days ago, I deleted a post that got into racial remarks. We don't need that here. I'm sure all agree about that.

Other than the above, this forum can and is the wild wild west. Everyone's opinions are welcome ( except possibly Sylvan!)

Would it not have been better to remove the offending posts instead of the entire thread? The thread may have been of some help for other OP's doing searches. Just my opinion.

John

I understand that John...you are probably correct. But that thread was up there for quite a while. If someone needs help next month with a drain...we just start over! Thanks for your feedback.

Oh yes, I recall his name was pretty offensive also. Probably a past member that got booted and holds a grudge.

I don't know if deleting the thread was the right thing to do or not but......it wasn't going to reach a happy conclusion anyway and had pretty much run it's course. You can lead a horse to water but that don't make him a plumber

I don't think there was anything of value in that thread that would prove useful to any future forum user. Some people are not able to understand that their actions are unacceptable, whether it be their plumbing or how they respond to other people's posts.

This forum provides a great service. IMO the #1 goal should always be to help people understand what it means to do things in a good workmanship-like manner, which includes meeting code requirements.

While some people have yet to figure this out, professionalism is a major part of being a good tradesman. This shows not only in our work, but in the way in which we talk to each other.

Either I did not see it or you are super politically correct sensitive.

I am FAR from politically correct, and the post was FAR from subtle!

Yes, I just read the last page today, and it needed deleting.
Hackney, were you having a bad day?

One funny thing that I read was the dry fitting. Plumbers know you can't dry fit.

The other was running all that plumbing into a floor drain. A big no no.
The floor should have been broken out and a 2" line located and used.

I still cant understand why those boiler drains were toward the block wall. LOL yeah I'm in nicotine withdrawl. I quit smoking last week.
