Under-counter water filter plumbing question

I am planning to install an under-sink water filter in my kitchen which will tee off from the 1/2" copper cold water line to a cold water dispenser with a 1/4" inlet. My water supply comes from a gravity-fed spring and the water pressure is on the low side (24 psi in the basement). My question: would there be any advantage to use a filter housing with 1/2" inlet/outlet ports and reduce the outlet port to 1/4"? Or would that be a bad idea? The water filter I am planning to use in a 10" imperial sized Doulton Sterasyl. Thanks!

It is an "immaterial" idea, neither good nor bad. There would be no advantage either way, since the outlet will still be 1/4". In fact, if the sink faucet is connected conventionally, there are "Add-A-Tees" which will attach to the angle stop, between the valve and supply tube to the faucet, which would then attach to the 1/4" inlet port.
