when connecting new pvc plumbing work to old cast pipes you must always use fernco couplings this is for waste water and vent as well correct?

I've found fernco 1-1/2 (both sides) shielded coupling at Home Depot it's known as proflex will this suffice to attach cast waste pipe and cast vent pipe to PVC if it matters it's shield is made of 310 stainless.....the box was empty so I have to wait for the next shipment....

Technically, you need the coupling labled for cast iron on one side and plastic on the other. Although a "No-Hub" coupling will usually work, it may not always pass an inspection.

And you need to tighten to 60" inch lbs.
There is a tool plumbers use to do this with and you want to do it evenly both nuts at same time

Two snapon 150 in lb torque wrenches with the right socket not good enough?

I could get two snapon 75 in lb torque wrenches if need be too.

It's sort of like torquing the head back onto a car block...you don't want to tighten one up fully before snugging up the other(s). As long as you don't tighten one while the other is totally loose, it should work fine.
