Just need to know if this situation is possibly taboo....

Off of a vertical riser from a tub drain into a 90 street elbow into the 45 of a wye lying on it's side to connect to a horizontal run.....

Trying to minimize space taken between the 2x8 so my basement drop ceiling doesn't have to come down lower.....

Don't know about the "taboo" business, but vertical to horizontal drain transitions generally require long-turn 90's (sweeps),
or equivalent.

The tub drains needs a p-trap, attached to a trap arm, which is vented through the roof.
Going from vertical to horizontal requires a long turn 90 bend.
The equivalent is two 45 bends
One 45 and the 45 degree inlet of a wye together

From horizontal to vertical, is where a medium 90 can be used.

So a wye with a 90 Turned up to go vertical on the 45 bend of the wye is not considered a long enough sweep only a 45 on the 45 of a wye is acceptable what about a long sweep 90 after a 45 of a wye so I could come off of a vented vertical riser into a horizontal run....

I'm getting a little confused by that.

Here are some pictures

They also make street versions of the 90 bends

A combo and a wye

A combo is simply a single fitting to save time...a "combination" of a wye and a 45. You would use a wye to join at 45º instead of 90
